Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Music Label Group ("MLG", "we", "us" or "our") collects when you use Listnbox, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It covers the Listnbox website, the Listnbox app you can install on your phone or computer, Listnbox inside Listn DJ Pro, the B Side, the Seller dashboard and our delivery services for distributors (together, the "Service"). MLG is responsible for your personal information as the "controller".
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password (which we store only in a scrambled, hashed form), and anything you choose to add to your profile, such as your DJ name, photo, location, biography and favorite genres, and, only if you choose to give them, your gender and age range.
- DJ pages: if you have a DJ page, what you put on it: your DJ name, photo, city and country, genres, the events you play, how far you travel, your fee note, links, mix links and biography, and the note you send us when you ask for the page.
- Booking requests: when you send or answer a request to book a DJ, the event details, your messages and, if you give one, a phone number.
- What you post: comments, crates, DJ charts, likes and the artists you follow.
- Messages: what you send us when you contact us, apply to sell, or report a rights problem, including your name, email address, company and the details of your report.
- Seller information: if you sell on Listnbox, your label or artist name, what you are (label, artist or producer), website, country, a description of your music, and how you want to be paid, including your PayPal address or bank details (which we store encrypted). We may also ask for tax information, such as a tax identification number, where the law requires it. For label name claims, we may ask for proof that you represent the label.
- Your Content: the recordings, sounds, artwork and details Sellers and distributors upload or deliver, including names and credits of the people involved.
Information created when you use the Service
- Orders and plans: what you buy or get, prices, credits, your plan and its status, payments, refunds and receipts.
- Downloads: which files you download, in which format, when, and the IP address used. We keep this to protect the music against account sharing and abuse.
- Plays: when a track is played for at least 30 seconds, we record the track, whether it was a preview, a track you own or a stream, the type of device, operating system and browser, and the country. We never store your IP address with a play. If you are signed in, the play is linked to your account so that charts, streaming statements and your history work.
- Your cart and the preferences you set, such as your download format.
- Listn DJ Pro: if you sign in from Listn DJ Pro, the name of that computer, when it was last used, and a sign-in key that we store only in hashed form. When Listn DJ Pro shows tracks from a streaming service, it may ask us whether Listnbox has them by sending their title, artists, mix name and ISRC. We use that only to answer, and we do not store it.
- Track ID: when you use Track ID, about ten seconds of sound from your microphone is sent to our song recognition provider to identify the song. We do not keep the recording. We keep what was identified, and if you are signed in, the list of your IDs so you can find them again; you can delete them in the Track ID history.
- Visits: to count visits and see how the Service is used, we record the pages you look at, how long you stay on them, the site or link that brought you, your browser, operating system and type of device, screen size, language and time zone, and your approximate location (city, region and country), which we work out from your IP address in a location database on our own servers (your IP address is not sent to anyone for this). Your browser keeps a random visitor number so that visits can be counted; it is not linked to your name. If you are signed in, visits are linked to your account, together with your gender and age range if you gave them. We keep the IP address and the details of each visit for up to 90 days, then keep only totals.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser and device information, and request logs that our servers use to run the Service, keep it secure, prevent fraud and limit abuse.
Information from others
- Stripe, our payment processor, tells us whether a payment succeeded and gives us references to your customer record and subscription. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never receive your full card number.
- Distributors deliver release information, including the names and roles of artists, producers, songwriters and other contributors.
- Rights owners who report a problem may give us information about a Seller or a release.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: running your account and library, processing orders and plans, delivering downloads and streams, and letting you post and share.
- To pay Sellers and distributors: working out sales, credits, streams and earnings, and making payouts.
- To build charts, DJ charts and recommendations from sales, downloads, likes and plays.
- To protect the Service, rights owners and users: preventing fraud, account sharing, artificial plays and sales, and infringement, and handling rights complaints.
- To communicate with you: receipts, account and security messages, replies to your messages, and updates about the Service. We send news and offers only if you choose to receive them, and you can switch them off at any time in Account settings.
- To improve the Service, and to comply with the law, including tax and accounting obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account, orders, plans and payouts); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, protecting rights owners, charts, and improving the Service), which we balance against your rights; your consent (optional marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligations (tax, accounting and responding to lawful requests).
3. Who can see your information
- Everyone: your public profile details, such as your DJ name and photo, your comments, your public crates and your published DJ charts, and, once approved, your DJ page.
- The other side of a booking request: the DJ sees what a promoter sends, including the phone number if one is given, and the promoter sees the DJ's answers. Neither side is shown the other's email address. We can read booking requests to keep the Service safe.
- Sellers: Sellers see the sales, credits and streams of their own music, with dates and amounts. They also see totals of the visits to their own pages and music, such as the number of visits, where visitors came from, their cities and countries and their devices, and totals by gender and age range only when at least 10 people make them up. They do not see your name, email address, IP address or payment details. DJs see the same kind of totals for their DJ page. Distributors receive sales reports for the music they deliver, which may include the country of each sale.
- Service providers who work for us under contracts that require them to protect your information, including hosting, cloud file storage (such as Cloudflare), email delivery, payment processing (Stripe), song recognition (ACRCloud or AudD, when Track ID is on) and payouts (PayPal and banks).
- People involved in a rights complaint: when you send a copyright notice or counter-notice, we may pass it, including your contact details, to the other side, as the law contemplates.
- Legal and safety: authorities, courts or others when the law requires it, or when it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of MLG, rights owners, users or the public.
- Business changes: a buyer or successor if MLG or Listnbox is part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and similar technology
We use cookies that are needed for the Service to work: to keep you signed in, to protect forms against misuse, and to remember your cart. The Service also keeps a few preferences in your browser, such as how the menu and player are shown, and the installable app may keep copies of pages on your device so it opens quickly. We do not use advertising cookies. We count visits with our own statistics, described in section 1, which keep a random visitor number in your browser's storage; we do not use an outside analytics or advertising service. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing for Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals to switch off, and we treat them as a request not to do so.
5. How long we keep information
- Account, profile and library information: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, library, downloads history, favorites, crates, DJ charts and comments.
- Orders, payments, payouts and tax records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require, generally up to seven years, including after an account is deleted. The email address on an order stays with the order for that reason.
- Plays: kept to calculate charts and streaming statements. When an account is deleted, its plays are no longer linked to it.
- Rights complaints and related correspondence: for as long as needed to handle them and to keep a record of repeat infringement.
- Visit details, including IP addresses: up to 90 days. Totals without IP addresses are kept.
- Server logs and security records: for a limited time, unless needed to investigate an incident.
6. Security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords and sign-in keys, encrypted storage of payout details, and access limited to people who need it. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.
7. Your rights and choices
- You can see and change most of your information in Account settings, switch marketing emails on or off, and delete your account.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent. To make a request, email info@listnmusic.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time the law requires.
- US state privacy rights: residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws have the rights above, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, use and disclose. The categories we collect are the ones described in section 1: identifiers, commercial information, internet and device activity, approximate location (city, region and country), gender and age range if you give them, audio content and profile information you post, professional information for Sellers, and financial information for payouts. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You may use an authorized agent to make a request, and you can appeal our decision by replying to it. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
- EEA, UK and Swiss residents: you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. International transfers
MLG is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate. Where the law requires it, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Users under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission to use the Service, as our Terms of Use explain.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or on the Service before it takes effect.
